The Anatomy of a Successful Landing Page (3 Quick Tips)
Many of the clients I work with have the exact same problem when it comes to writing… how to get landing pages that convert more buyers, more often.
I’ve worked with close to 1,000 clients and the one thing I know is crucial to their success is copywriting.
But why is copywriting so important?
Put simply, good copywriting can increase both the quality and quantity of your leads.

Why you should care about copywriting
When serial entrepreneur Ramit Sethi was asked what the most underrated skill was to grow a business, he replied, “I’d have to say copywriting. I spent years studying it, we’ve generated millions of dollars using copywriting, and I’m still amazed by the masters.”
I am #TeamRamit on this one. In fact, I wrote a landing page for a USD $69.95 per month subscription product that outperformed the control by 44%.
I helped a virtual conference make USD $10,000 in ticket sales in just 48 hours with ZERO ad spend — just killer copy, good strategy, and turning the CEO into a GIF.
A tender I prepared for a corporate client landed them a deal worth between AUD $600,000 — $900,000 per year.
Put simply, good copywriting thinks about your customer — your product or service has to be the painkiller that alleviates your customer’s pain.
So your copywriting should speak to your customer’s pain points and HOW your product or service will help alleviate that pain
Remember, people buy benefits NOT features, and people buy the product or service that’s easiest to understand NOT the best one on the market…

Let’s unpack the three elements that contribute to a landing page that converts.
Tip #1: A clear benefit-driven headline
A headline that attracts attention and click-through rate is something like “Trigger your prospect’s deepest desires and land more clients than you can imagine.”
This gives you a clear benefit:
- You’re gonna trigger your prospects’ deepest desires, and
- You’re gonna get more clients than you can ever imagine.
BOOM! There it is! 💥
Tip #2: Power or trigger words
Now, as a copywriter, these are ones that I love.
They are words like trigger, unlock, boost, guaranteed, authentic, private, behind the scenes, VIP, coveted…
All of those good, juicy words that contribute to an emotional feeling that the reader will have.
You love them. ❤️
Make them your friend. 👭
Take them out on a date. 🌮 (TACOS!)
You know what I mean… Be friendly with these power or trigger words.
Get to know them and use them.

Tip #3: Have a CTA button above the fold
Do you know what that means?
That’s a button saying, buy now, download the free PDF, get the guide...
Whatever it is, make sure it’s above the fold.
So no one has to scroll.
When someone’s gonna buy something from your landing page, we don’t want any scrolling on your desktop page and we don’t want any scrolling on your mobile page.
Scrolling is bad.
Stop the scroll.
Every time you want to place a button below the fold, just remember: stop the scroll (and this GIF of Dolly disapproving of your scrolling.)
So those are the three tips I’m gonna give you.
Number one: a clear benefit-driven headline.
Number two: make friends with power or trigger words to boost your conversions.
And number three: put that CTA above the fold.
